Challenge
To expand their impact, Ethicall planned to establish a new call centre, requiring a solution that was both reliable and cost-effective. They sought CCCit’s expertise to develop a system that could be efficiently managed, minimise technical disruptions, and maximise uptime—critical for a call centre that handles high call volumes for nonprofit campaigns.
Solution
CCCit conducted a thorough assessment of Ethicall’s existing setup, identifying the need for an optimised, easy-to-maintain, and highly reliable infrastructure. To streamline operations, CCCit designed and implemented a thin client architecture leveraging Microsoft Terminal Services.
The thin client approach allowed each workstation to focus solely on the call centre software, eliminating extraneous applications that could disrupt performance. This simplified the network, decreased maintenance demands, and significantly improved system uptime. CCCit’s approach also reduced per-terminal installation costs by 25%, helping Ethicall allocate funds more effectively toward their mission.
To meet Ethicall’s need for maximum uptime, CCCit established a dual terminal server configuration. By distributing workloads across two servers, CCCit reduced strain on individual servers and allowed for seamless failover to a secondary server in case of hardware issues. Additionally, an offsite disaster recovery system was implemented, ensuring rapid recovery of key servers in the event of hardware failure or data loss.

Results
Since the initial implementation over six years ago, Ethicall’s call centre has maintained an impressive 99.95% uptime. The thin client setup not only improved user productivity but also simplified system management, decreased maintenance costs, and enhanced reliability. Ethicall’s robust, high-performance IT environment allows them to focus on supporting critical fundraising efforts, knowing their infrastructure is stable and resilient.
